Here are a few examples I’ve personally had experience with over the years where a pet sitter comes in very handy:
- Attending a wedding with a long drive to and from, you’re having fun and want to stay, but who is going to take care of the dogs.
- Your elderly mother is ill, hospitalized, and you want to spend as much time with her as possible. It helps knowing the cats are being fed, the litter box is being cleaned and you’re not coming home day-after-day to a mess after long exhausting days in the hospital.
- Your flight is delayed, you miss the pick-up time at the kennel, and now you have to wait until Monday morning to pick up your dog. Funny thing is: you also have to pay for the extra time, AND your boss expects you back at work early Monday morning, not at the kennel.
- You’re away visiting family and your husband is home working and taking care of things-but he can’t get home mid-day to walk the dog, let him come home to a happy dog who has already been walked and the house is accident-free.
- The house is being renovated, new paint, new floors, the dogs are happy with their pet sitter while you don’t have to worry your workers are leaving doors open so your dogs can escape.
- Your home is broken into while you’re out of town and your dogs, typically the guardians of your home, are at the local kennel and your house is left unprotected.
- You return home penniless from all the vacation fun you’ve just had, only to spend hundreds of $$ at for vet treating Sparky for ringworm, kennel cough or canine influenza. It’s safer for your dog to remain in their own home while you’re vacationing, and better for their anxiety too, should you have a nervous Nellie.
These are just a few examples of why a pet sitter is a great idea for you and your family. So as you begin to search and plan your ideal vacation getaway this year, find a pet sitter that can help you, not only during the vacation with your pets, but all year long. I often visit a client’s home on a moment’s notice to help them out with their pets, this makes for a happy client and an even happier pet.
